At Oliver James Associates, the satisfaction of our clients and candidates is what matters most. From the initial point of interaction, we keep in close contact with each of our candidates to ensure they feel fully supported throughout their entire recruitment journey. Each person has a different story, so we tailor our approach to suit the needs and motivations of the individual.
Here we speak to Giuditta Massone of OJ Italy, who successfully helped a London-based model actuary and his family set up a new life in Trieste, Italy.

Giuditta, tell us a bit about your candidate…
My candidate was originally from Romania but settled in the UK after completing his studies. He was working as a model actuary for a leading banking company in London, where he lived with his wife and two children. I found him using the OJ headhunting methodology in my search to find the perfect candidate for a very niche role in the Italian actuarial market.
If he was living in London, what made you contact him about a role based in Italy?
As the candidate had relocated once before, I knew he would be open to the possibility of a second international relocation. The role in question was also extremely attractive – and, after understanding the motivations of the candidate, I knew he would be very keen to develop his career in this role.
It sounds like a fantastic opportunity for the candidate – but how did his family react to the job?
While the candidate and his wife were extremely excited to begin a new life in Italy, the children were less enthusiastic to leave London. I knew it would take some convincing, so I collated a list of places and activities the children might like to encourage their interest in the country. And, after a few visits to the Trieste seaside, they couldn’t wait to move!
So what happened next?
We kept in close contact with the candidate and assisted his family in their search for a new home, putting them in touch with the relevant housing agents. Relocating is never easy – especially with two young children to look after. With this in mind, I negotiated for an international school allowance to be included in the candidate’s deal, so that the children could settle into their new home with ease.
How satisfied was your candidate?
He was extremely satisfied and really appreciated our ongoing support. Through keeping in close contact and providing regular updates no matter how small, the candidate and his family felt at ease throughout the entire recruitment process. With our expertise and guidance, the family was able to settle into Italian life extremely quickly, which is testament to the level of service we provide.
