Job Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Boston, MA

About the Firm:
Our client is a dynamic and expanding asset management firm with a diversified investment strategy. With multiple new fund launches scheduled for this year, the firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Controller to join the finance team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced and growing investment platform.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will be a key player in the finance and accounting team, supporting the Controller in managing fund accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have experience within private equity or private credit, strong technical accounting knowledge, and a proactive approach to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee fund accounting, financial reporting, and investor reporting for private equity and/or private credit funds.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP and fund-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with third-party fund administrators, auditors, and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Support new fund launches, including fund structuring, onboarding, and operational setup.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations.
  • Monitor and enhance internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with investment and operations teams on performance reporting and financial analysis.
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects and initiatives to support the firm's continued growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CFA preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on private equity or private credit.
  • Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles, US GAAP, and financial reporting.
  • Experience working with fund administrators, auditors, and tax professionals.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and Excel; experience with Investran, Allvue, or similar software is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
