The Role:
We are seeking an Business Relationship Consultant (BRC) to join our client's team in a critical business partner role. The position will serve as a bridge between the business, IT, and operations teams, ensuring that business needs are met efficiently and in line with strategic objectives. You will be working closely with senior leadership, including VPs and department heads, to address major business challenges, manage the pipeline of work, and ensure that projects are aligned with business goals.
This role is integral to a major transformation programme, aimed at identifying and resolving business inefficiencies across both commercial and specialty insurance lines. The ideal candidate will be someone who understands underwriting language, has a problem-solving mindset, and can manage a fast-paced, transformation-driven environment. You will have the opportunity to engage directly with business users, manage support tickets, and assist with writing business cases while playing a key role in driving successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Partner Role: Act as the go-between for business, IT, and operations teams, ensuring communication flows smoothly and work requests are routed appropriately.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with senior leadership (VPs, department heads) to align on strategic direction, address significant challenges, and manage the pipeline of work.
- Manage Business Requests: Own the process of prioritizing and managing business-facing work, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure it follows the correct governance route, whether for new projects or transformation initiatives.
- Transformation Programme Support: Play a key role in supporting the delivery of business needs in a transformation programme focused on addressing inefficiencies across the business.
- Underwriting Knowledge: Strong ability to communicate and understand the language of underwriters, particularly in the context of commercial and specialty lines of insurance.
- Work with Users: Manage day-to-day interactions with underwriting teams, helping to manage support tickets and ensuring business cases are accurately developed and presented.
- Problem-Solving: You won't be solving every issue yourself, but you will play an integral role in identifying and working with the right people to find solutions.
- Project Support: Assist with organizing business projects, ensuring smooth implementation and ensuring the business's needs are met effectively.
Skills & Experience Required:
- 10+ years of experience in a business-facing role within Technology or Operations, with strong knowledge of underwriting practices in either / both commercial and specialty insurance.
- A background in Business Analysis is not mandatory, but you must demonstrate the behaviours and mindset of a Business Analyst
- Strong experience in managing transformation projects and helping business teams resolve complex challenges.
- Proficiency in working with business users to develop business cases, manage support tickets, and present solutions.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Ability to speak the language of underwriting and the wider insurance domain
- A strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to identify who can resolve issues when they arise.
- Familiarity with IT and operational departments, as this role will work closely with both.
