Oliver James are seeking hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the finance, treasury, and accounting functions for a start-up life insurance company. As CFO, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial reporting, optimizing performance, and ensuring regulatory excellence while supporting the company's long-term growth.

- Founded five years ago, the company is set to grow actively participating in the M&A space and taking on reinsurance across the platform.
- Privately owned by a leading asset management firm.
- A lean but experienced executive team, offering an opportunity to build, lead, and shape financial operations from the ground up.
Your Role & Responsibilities
✔ Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Oversee US Statutory (STAT) and GAAP financial reporting.
- Manage Blue Book reporting, asset schedules (B, BA), and regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with rating agencies and investment management diligence.
✔ Operational & Regulatory Oversight
- Supervise financial controls, risk management, and reinsurance accounting.
- Partner with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.
- Implement best practices for financial systems and reporting efficiencies.
✔ Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Establish and oversee accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and capital management functions.
- Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
What We're Looking For
✔ Experience & Expertise
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience. Candidates must posses leadership experience within life and/or annuities insurance/reinsurance.
- CPA, MBA, or CFA strongly preferred.
- Deep expertise in STAT, GAAP, and insurance accounting.
- Strong background in forecasting, budgeting, planning, and M&A within insurance.
- Knowledge of MYGA, FIA, and other life insurance products.
✔ Leadership & Growth Potential
- Ready to transition from a controller-level role to a CFO position in a growing company.
- Ability to develop and mentor finance teams while fostering a collaborative culture.
- Comfortable operating in a small but dynamic environment, balancing hands-on execution with strategic leadership.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and drive results under tight deadlines.
Compensation
- Highly dependent on candidate's experience.
- Base salary between 200-340k with annual bonus potential.
- No equity on offer.
