Oliver James is representing a prominent organization within the insurance industry seeking a Controller to lead and manage financial accounting operations across all its entities. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in financial reporting while driving continuous improvement within the department.

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will establish and oversee accounting procedures, manage financial reporting, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead audit processes. This role requires a proactive leader with strong expertise in STAT and GAAP insurance reporting and the ability to manage high-performing teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounting Oversight: Develop and implement robust accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and accuracy across all reporting functions.
• Audit Coordination: Manage internal and external audits, including scheduling and cross-department collaboration to meet deadlines and maintain compliance.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and supervise a financial reporting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Compliance and Regulation: Maintain compliance with statutory and GAAP requirements, interfacing with auditors, regulatory agencies, and investment teams as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA designation is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, including financial reporting, budgeting, and financial modeling, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel, with advanced analytical and modeling skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of STAT and GAAP insurance reporting standards; public accounting experience is a strong advantage.
