Controller Insurance - REMOTE
Role & Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and prepare statutory reporting aligned with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Manage and execute consolidation processes under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Oversee regulatory reporting specifically tailored for Property and Casualty, adhering to National Association of Insurance Commissioners guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with the finance team to enhance reporting procedures and compliance.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to improve financial reporting and compliance structures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger systems and financial statement preparation.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex reconciliation and reporting issues.
- Experience managing a team of five or more professionals.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, including policy and claims systems, is preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently, research solutions, and handle conflict professionally.
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as Microsoft GP and Prospero preferred; knowledge of statutory preparation tools like Wings is helpful.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., Pivot Tables, Power Query, Macros) and familiarity with Power BI.
- Thorough understanding of internal control practices and SAP/GAAP compliance.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
