Title: Director, Enterprise Technology & Architecture
Location: Newark, NJ (Hybrid)

Base Salary Range: Up to $225k
An industry leading Health Insurer is seeking a Director, Enterprise Technology & Architecture. This senior leadership role will guide enterprise technology direction & strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, industry advancements, and best practices. As a strategic thought leader, you will oversee the development of enterprise architecture, governance frameworks, and technology strategies while fostering innovation and collaboration across teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic workshops with senior leadership to define and execute technology roadmaps and investment strategies that align with the organization's goals.
- Stay ahead of emerging technology trends, incorporating industry best practices to enhance business and IT capabilities.
- Spearhead the development and continuous improvement of enterprise architecture documentation, including roadmaps, technical blueprints, and architecture standards.
- Identify and lead technology rationalization efforts, guiding the evaluation and selection of new technologies.
- Establish and optimize IT governance frameworks, including the Architecture Review Board, ensuring robust oversight of architecture and technology initiatives.
- Proactively identify, mitigate, and communicate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop technology standards, manage lifecycle processes, and mitigate obsolescence risks.
- Manage vendor relationships, stay informed on industry developments, and lead the evaluation of potential vendors.
- Oversee the RFP and RFQ processes, supporting vendor contract negotiations and renewals.
- Build and lead a high-performing team of technical architects, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous development.
- Provide mentorship and coaching, promoting professional growth and excellence within the team.
Skills Needed:
- 15+ years in enterprise technology strategy, architecture, and governance; with 5-7 years in leadership roles focused on team development and management.
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) and cloud solutions (AWS, Azure).
- Proven track record in developing and executing technology strategies aligned with business needs.
- Strong experience in IT governance and risk management frameworks (ITIL, COBIT).
- Experience with RFP/RFI processes and vendor assessments, negotiations, and contract management.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- TOGAF, PMP, or Cloud Architecture certifications.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities to manage and inspire teams.
- Deep understanding of microservices, container platforms, APIs, data engineering platforms, cloud data warehousing, and robotic process automation.
- Experience integrating hybrid cloud solutions and public cloud into traditional IT infrastructure.
