Our client is a leading global insurance and financial services organization looking to expand their reinsurance team.
About the Role:
This position leads the operational and financial oversight of a major segment within a global reinsurance controllership. Key responsibilities include managing financial reporting and controlling activities related to reinsurance accounts, such as premium and loss calculations, intercompany reconciliations, and cash settlements. The role supervises a team of 13 staff members and over 20 offshore resources, and requires engagement with global finance and actuarial leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial reporting including GAAP/STAT, 10Q/K, and Schedule F.
- Manage key reinsurance finance processes and controls.
- Handle financial reporting, accounting, and reconciliations for reinsurance activities.
- Analyze quarterly P&L and balances for reinsurance on both GAAP and STAT bases.
- Support intercompany reconciliations for financial consolidation and SOX compliance.
- Manage accounting/reporting for global internal reinsurance programs.
- Supervise cash settlements, statement preparation, and invoicing.
- Participate in committees for cross-team coordination and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with audit and financial controls teams on reinsurance matters.
- Partner with international teams to implement internal reinsurance processes.
- Provide expertise and guidance to stakeholders through various committees.
- Address projects, process improvements, and transformation activities as needed.
- Offer recommendations for resolving issues based on current constraints.
- Engage with senior management and various internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of Property & Casualty reinsurance including underwriting, claims, and finance.
- Over 10 years of global reinsurance operations and finance experience.
- Deep understanding of industry trends, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in business management, strategic planning, and resource coordination.
- Strong technical skills in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience interacting with senior management.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
