Overview:
Our client is looking for a skilled and dedicated Field Claims Adjuster to join our team in the Newark, NJ territory. This role involves managing field property claims for both personal lines and commercial/agriculture lines of business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in property claims handling or relevant experience, and reside in or near the Pittsburgh area.
What You'll Do:
- Operate an independent field office within the specified territory, handling full life cycle property claims including field inspections.
- Contact relevant parties, obtain recorded statements, explain the claim process, review coverage, investigate claims, and identify potential fraudulent activities.
- Review facts of loss, coverage details, and investigative needs to accurately assess damages.
- Order police/fire reports and document claims files with results of review and intentions.
- Conduct field investigations unless it is deemed better to assign an independent adjuster for the situation.
- Communicate, explain, and prepare detailed estimates with diagrams and reports.
- Negotiate with insureds, contractors, and vendors.
- Assess salvage/subrogation potential and monitor cases to conclusion.
- Complete risk evaluations for underwriting and claims purposes.
- Maintain ongoing communication with claimants, agents, attorneys, and internal clients about the status of claims.
- Ensure claims are concluded in compliance with all state rules and regulations.
- Assist with claims handling during catastrophe (CAT) events, which may include extended travel or overnight stays (Company CAT team will deploy first, field adjusters second, with notice).
- Maintain required continuing education (CE) courses for state licensing.
What You'll Need:
- Experience in property claims handling is preferred (Relevant experience such as home construction or estimating may also be considered).
- Hold an appropriate state adjuster license or obtain one following the date of hire (American National will cover the associated fees).
- Physically capable of performing field assessments and evaluations, including climbing ladders/roofs and maneuvering in tight crawl spaces.
- Successfully pass a motor vehicle check and possess a valid driver's license.
