Oliver James is exclusively supporting a P&C Reinsurance startup in Bermuda on a newly created a Finance Manager to join their high-performing team. This is not your typical finance role-it's an opportunity to shape financial strategy, influence capital and risk management decisions, and be a key player in driving growth at an emerging powerhouse.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare quarterly management accounts and reports in accordance with US GAAP including variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Prepare annual audited financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Responsible for all accounting functions including cash management, accounts payable, maintenance of the general ledger including period end journal entries and reconciliations.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget and periodic reforecast, including projections for P&L and Balance Sheet, and work closely with Capital and Risk Analyst to build and parameterize the various models for this.
- Prepare annual Bermuda regulatory filings and ensure compliance with applicable Bermuda laws and regulations.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures and ensure financial statements and underwriting-related transactions are prepared in accordance with US GAAP.
- Develop, implement and maintain process documentation and controls over financial reporting and compliance.
- Manage automation initiatives with a focus on the integrity of the financial data, processes and controls.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and drive the execution of team
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and other third party service providers.
- Prepare presentations (e.g. board books, regulatory briefings, applications, etc.).
- Interact with the Bermuda based CFO and work closely with affiliated entities and third- party service providers.
- Other duties as assigned.inimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in accounting, finance, auditing, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS).
- Experience with investment accounting and financial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to work with complex datasets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Proven ability to manage projects, including system implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
- Adaptability to change and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving work environment
