Lead Data Engineer | Snowflake | Insurance
My client is a Global insurance firm who are currently going through a technology transformation. They are in the process of building out a Data Engineering team who will take part in the migration and build of a Data warehouse being built in Snowflake and Azure.
As a Lead Data Engineer, you will have an opportunity to build and lead a Data Engineering team.
My client is looking for someone who can:
- Develop their data engineering standards by designing, building, automating, testing and monitoring data pipelines.
- Establish enterprise-scale data integration procedures across the development life cycle, ensuring that engineering teams adhere to them, and that data services work effectively at an enterprise level.
- Develop transformation strategies and oversee the execution and implementation of Data Engineering standards across the Data Mesh model.
- Set enterprise-wide standards to monitor and improve data pipeline reliability, efficiency and Quality.
- Support development of the enterprise strategy for Modern Data Architecture and ensure it delivers the process, tools and platform that enhance business outcomes.
- Build data engineering capability by providing technical leadership and career development for the community, and play a meaningful role in attracting, developing, unifying, and retaining talent across the data engineering / platform team.
In order to be successful, you will need:
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java
- Experience with large scale data processing (e.g., Spark, Snowpark)
- Experience with data lake / warehousing solutions such as Snowflake
- Experience working with databases, data modelling and big data.
- Experience with batch and streaming processing, real-time applications, event-based architectures and pub/sub patterns (e.g., Kafka, Confluent)
- Experience working in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD workflows and git best practices
- Familiarity with Docker and terraform.
- Experience of leading delivery whilst managing and coaching teams
