Oliver James is currently representing a client in the property and casualty insurance sector, a company backed by an ambitious asset management firm. The role will focus on a wide variety of investment accounting, reporting, and operations. The ideal candidate with have a broad background in insurance investment accounting, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Manager, Investment Accounting
The role will oversee all investment accounting and reporting related activity, including leading the monthly and quarterly close in accordance with GAAP/STAT. This position will also collaborate closely with the the investment management team to carry out various projects and objectives.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze investment reports in accordance with GAAP and STAT (schedule D, E, BA)
- Reconcile investment accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Research and analyze new accounting policies (i.e. new STAT guidelines related to bonds)
- Monitor investment performance and provide insights to management
- Collaborate with investment managers on operational functions including tracking and reporting investment transactions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to investments
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP/STAT Investment Reporting
- Insurance experience required
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify trends
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with investment accounting software - Clearwater a plus
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred
