Title: Senior Network Engineer
Location: Tysons, VA (Hybrid, 2 days onsite)
Type: FTE, Direct Hire
Base Salary Range: $140k-160k

Our innovative client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer who will play a pivotal role in architecting, supporting, and enhancing their on-premises infrastructure. As a key member of their Infrastructure team, you'll contribute to the development and upkeep of network systems, ensuring high availability and secure data distribution to global customers. This role is essential for building resilient, redundant, and efficient networks that adhere to rigorous safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and sustain operational, testing, and development IP networks.
- Work closely with team members in reviewing and approving network configurations and hardware implementations.
- Develop and document detailed network layouts using tools such as Visio and Lucidchart.
- Provide high-level (Tier III) support for troubleshooting and resolving escalated network incidents.
- Manage backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and network redundancy protocols.
- Implement, administer, and maintain centralized authentication systems and security protocols.
- Conduct network performance assessments to identify potential bottlenecks and support capacity planning.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain network appliances such as switches, routers, and firewalls, as well as oversee network monitoring solutions and dashboards.
Skills Needed:
- 8+ years in network engineering within enterprise environments (data centers, remote sites, satellite networks).
- Experience with Satellite Systems/Communications will be a big plus.
- Proficient with network switching/routing (OSI Layer 2/3) and protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
- Experience with IP subnetting, VLANs, DMZ, and network segmentation.
- Familiarity with IP and physical network layers, including MPLS, EPL, and Internet provisioning.
- Knowledge of network security protocols and encryption (e.g., IPSec, AES, 3DES).
- Skilled in managing network architecture drawings and documentation tools (Visio, Lucidchart).
- Competent in using network monitoring tools, ticketing systems, and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Atlassian tools).
- Networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA) preferred.
