Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Albany, New York. The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

1. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
2. Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
3. Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and ensure accuracy in reporting.
4. Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
5. Maintain and update financial records and documentation in accordance with GAAP and company guidelines.
6. Prepare financial reports for management, highlighting key trends, variances, and financial performance metrics.
7. Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and analysis as needed.
8. Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations, ensuring compliance in financial reporting.
9. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the implementation of best practices within the Finance team.
10. Perform ad hoc financial analysis and projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
2. CPA certification or working towards CPA preferred.
3. 2+ years of experience in accounting or financial reporting roles.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting software.
5. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial principles.
6. Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
7. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
8. Good communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating across departments.
