Oliver James is currently engaged with a market leader in the in the Investment Banking space to appoint a Tax Accountant to the business. This newly created position reports directly into the European Head of Tax and will be focus on Tax reporting and Compliance (corporate & VAT) for entities in UK/I, statutory reporting, financial control and play a key role in the further development of tax accounting and reporting. You will also play a key part both local and global project based work.

The day-to-day responsibilities of the role are varied and will look like but not be limited to the following;

• Assist with the tax notes for all the UK & Irish entities, including reviewing draft financial statements to ensure accuracy of numbers and appropriateness of financial statement disclosures

• Provide expertise in incorporating any tax disclosure requirements as new businesses/products are booked in the local entities.

• Preparation of tax provisions for the month end, quarter end and year-end close process for UK and Irish entities, explaining variances and dealing with queries from London/Toronto Finance and Tax teams

• Prepare all journal entries relating to corporation tax and VAT

• Prepare draft corporation tax returns for all UK and Irish entities and respond to any questions from external advisors.

• Own ad hoc specified local and global project

This position would suit a highly motivated and ambitious Tax Accountant looking to gain experience within an international setting. You will also have a strong knowledge of UK & Irish corporate Tax, an understanding of VAT and partial exemptions for Financial Services along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
