A fast-growing insurance firm has recently expanded into the Irish market. The company is dedicated to providing innovative solutions while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions. As part of the continued expansion, they are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Head of Compliance to join their team.

This hands-on role reports directly to the CEO and will be pivotal in managing and implementing all compliance-related activities across the business. The Head of Compliance will ensure that the company adheres to regulatory frameworks and best practices, while also gaining exposure to multiple jurisdictions. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a critical role in a rapidly growing company.

The key responsibilities of the position;

  • Serve as the Pre-Approved Control Function 12 (PCF12) Head of Compliance, in line with the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Advise the Board of Directors on compliance with Solvency II regulations and other applicable laws in Ireland and the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • Monitor changes to laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the company's operations and identifying compliance risks.
  • Develop and implement a robust compliance monitoring programme, reporting regularly to the Audit Committee.
  • Act as the central point of contact for senior management on all compliance matters, including cross-functional projects.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, while ensuring compliance systems are robust, fully operational, and understood across the company.
  • Lead the development of the Annual Compliance Plan, aligning it with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee compliance training and ensure understanding across all business levels.
  • Assess and review new business activities to identify compliance risks and recommend solutions.
  • Handle complaints received by the company, ensuring alignment with the company's procedures.
  • Review and update company policies to ensure compliance with local legislation.
  • Oversee the Conflict of Interest Policy, conducting annual reviews and updates where necessary.
  • Ensure appropriate regulatory reporting and disclosures, especially in cases of material compliance breaches.
  • Serve as the Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and providing regular reports to the Board.
  • Contribute to the general management of the company as a member of the executive team.

Core Competencies and Profile:

  • Senior Compliance and/or Legal professional with 10+ years of experience in a compliance management role within the insurance sector.
  • Proven experience within a Central Bank of Ireland regulated environment, especially in relation to Freedom of Services operations across the EEA.
  • Strong knowledge of local regulatory and governance frameworks, including AML, CTF, and GDPR.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing corporate compliance programmes and addressing ethical issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and provide clear guidance across all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced and growing business environment.
  • Willingness to register as a PCF12 and undergo enhanced pre-employment screening by the Central Bank of Ireland.
