Senior Cybersecurity Engineer - SME Role
Job Overview
Oliver James is looking for a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, a role balanced between operational and strategic functions. Your expertise will drive both hands-on implementation of complex network security solutions and the advancement of critical cybersecurity projects, ranging from lifecycle management of firewalls to security service edge (SSE) enhancements and tool optimizations.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Focus Areas:
- Next-Gen Firewalls (Palo Alto): Oversee the full lifecycle, from installation to enhancement. Work on SSE solutions (e.g., Prisma).
- Firewall Rule Management: Configure networks/zones, establish and fine-tune firewall policies to support advanced system deployments.
- Security Optimization Platforms: Utilize advanced capabilities to optimize rule sets, reduce redundancy, enhance application visibility, and automate workflows using tools designed for network analysis and risk assessment.
- Network Access Control (NAC): Engage with both wired and wireless NAC protocols, optimize and close operational modes, and oversee device profiling and network access trust strategies.
- DHCP & IP Management: Work on tuning existing infrastructure for scalable and resilient performance.
Strategic Activities:
- Lead specific network and cybersecurity projects, from high-level architectural blueprints to detailed, hands-on implementations.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures for consistent and compliant processes, ensuring seamless transitions during escalations and system transfers.
- Contribute to and lead the enhancement of existing processes, driving continuous improvement within the team.

- Proactively identify areas for improvement in existing security solutions and workflows.
- Act as a champion for innovation, proposing and leading new cybersecurity initiatives.
